Najprv je potrebné si vytvoriť mydlovú pastu. Vo vodnom kúpeli zahrejeme olej na teplo 70 stupňov Celzia. Medzitým si do destilovanej vody pridáme potrebné množstvo hydroxidu draselného a zmes vlejeme do zohriateho oleja. Je dôležité všetko neustále miešať a opäť ohriať, kým nezačne hustnúť na zemiakovú kašu. Vzniknutú pastu necháme cez noc “odpočinúť”. Potom ju zriedime vodou, a to v takom pomere, že jeden diel pasty zalejeme trojnásobným množstvom vody. Vzniknutý roztok je už vlastne tekuté mydlo. Na zníženie PH sa používa roztok destilovanej vody a kyseliny citrónovej v pomere 4:1. Pridávajme do mydla po kvapkách a meriame pravidelne PH. Optimálna hodnota PH je 8.
