Liquid Soap · KOH · 100 g oil load · 3% superfat · 1 views · 0 saves
Paste: Mix KOH with equal amount of water. Add full liquid amount of glycerin to solution. Heat oils until clear, and then stir in KOH/glycerin solution. Stick blend or whisk until Lawrence Welk stage (may or may not happen). Cover, off the heat, and leave alone until it becomes a paste. Test for zap. If the paste is zap-free, proceed with dilution. If the paste zaps, heat and cook for 15 minutes and add extra oils if necessary. Dilution: Prepare a boiling water bath with a pot holder on the bottom of the pot for protection. Bring dilution water (62% of paste weight) to just below the boil and then add to the paste in a canning jar. Seal and place in the boiling water bath for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, check the paste consistency. If it is the texture of jam, blend with a stick blender. If it is too firm, continue boiling for an additional 10 minutes. When the lumps of paste are gone, take the pot off the heat and let the jar cool inside overnight. Add FO at 0.5-1% and an equal amount of polysorbate 80 to emulsify. Preserve with Liquid Germall Plus at 0.5% and add 0.5% tetrasodium EDTA for chelation.
